About Us

Facilities

Joanne Gillies started up Killeonan Cat Lodge in July 2014.  It is a small boarding cattery just 3 miles from Campbeltown, Argyll with 5 luxury chalets, i.e., 1 family and 4 double pens overlooking open countryside. Built to Animal Boarding Regulations by specialist company, Lindee Lu, each luxury, south facing, pen has individual lighting and heating with a large play area and cosy sleeping quarters accessed by a cat flap.  External windows can be removed in good weather to give a semi outdoor feeling.

We understand how every cat is different and while some settle in almost immediately, others can find it quite traumatic being away from home.  In this regard we do everything in our power to make it a relaxing and enjoyable experience for all cats.  We use Feliway to help settle nervous cats and also like to make sure they are fed the same food they get at home, as far as possible.

Feeding, according to your cat's particular requirements, is usually twice a day, with dry food offered throughout the day and 'treats' given daily - with your permission.  We ask that any cat who is on a prescription diet brings their own supply, clearly labelled and with enough to cover their stay with us.  We are also happy to administer prescribed medicines.

We provide a variety of toys and interesting scratching posts for their amusement and if your cat just wants to lie on one of the various shelves and watch the world go by, then there's plenty of wildlife to keep them entertained with sheep, hens, rabbits, birds and butterflies all within sight.

Hygiene and infection control is paramount; but also your cat's comfort is our priority and we use Petbed fleece in our easy to clean plastic beds.  However, if you want to provide your cat's favourite bedding or toys to help them settle in, then that's fine; we just ask that they are cleaned before you bring them.

Important Information

It is imperative that your cat's vaccinations and flea and worm treatments are up-to-date. Vaccination certificate must be provided before your cat can be accepted for boarding.

Vaccination Guide:-

Kitten (less than 1 year old) - 2 vaccinations 3-4 weeks apart, starting at 8-9 weeks or older, can board 2 weeks after last vaccine, then have a booster annually after that.

If a cat has had a primary vaccination course (minimum of two injections) followed by a first booster within 12 months, it only needs a single booster injection (irrespective of the length of time since the last injection) 2 weeks before it goes into the cattery. (AdviceInternational Cat Care).

However, where a cat's booster has lapsed over the twelve month period, please consult your own vet as to whether the course has to start from the beginning again, or whether a booster is sufficient, in your case, before boarding.

Yearly booster only required, i.e., given within 1 year of last jag - can board immediately on receipt of the booster.

Please read our Terms and Conditions.
